Living and working abroad can be exciting — but also overwhelming when it comes to figuring out what tools, platforms, and services actually work. I know, because I’ve been living abroad since 2011, testing just about everything under the sun to make the digital nomad lifestyle easier.

This page is a curated list of the resources I personally use and trust. They’re the ones that have saved me time, money, and stress while making long-term travel sustainable. Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been on the road for years, these will help you work smarter, travel easier, and live better.

Accomodations and living

Hello landing

When I’m in the U.S., this is my go-to. Hello Landing gives you a private space in a shared house, usually in the best neighborhoods of a city. It’s budget-friendly, and the built-in community makes it feel less lonely than renting through Airbnb.

Nomadico.io

If you’re after more intentional, off-the-beaten-path coliving experiences, Nomadico is amazing. They focus on affordable homes in unique places, with a strong sense of community

Booking

For hotels, apartments, and unique stays, Booking.com is my go-to. They’ve got flexible booking options and competitive pricing, so it’s easy to plan ahead or make last-minute changes

Trusted House Sitters

This platform connects you with pet owners looking for sitters. In exchange for caring for their pets, you get free accommodation — a fantastic way to save money while feeling at home abroad

Coliving.com

A great option if you want a built-in community. Coliving.com makes it easy to book coliving spaces designed for remote workers and nomads. Think coworking + shared housing in one

technology

NORD vpn

The NordVPN service allows you to connect to 6230+ servers in 110+ countries. It secures your Internet data with military-grade encryption, ensures your web activity remains private and helps bypass geographic content restrictions online.

CapCut

This is our go-to tool for creating scroll-stopping social media videos!
With CapCut Pro, you can transform your ideas into fun, engaging content using pro edit tools, ready-to-use templates, and powerful AI features.

Semrush

This was the first SEO tool I invested in when I started my company in 2019, and I’ve used it ever since. I love it! SEMRush is an online tool that helps businesses improve their visibility on search engines by showing what keywords people search for, how competitors are ranking, and how to optimize websites and ads. It’s like a digital marketing assistant that helps you get more traffic from Google.

krisp.ai

I’ve used this tool in the past for noise cancellation, and it worked quite well. The only note, you do need stronger wifi as it does require some additional bandwidth.
AI-Assistant for collaborative meetings Krisp is the only AI note-taker that offers a bot-free experience, Noise Cancellation, and Accent Conversion.

solis hotspot

This is a pretty sweet tool I used for years with pretty great wifi coverage around the world. The Solis hotspot is a portable Wi-Fi device that provides global internet access by connecting to local cellular networks in over 130 countries. It offers a secure, contract-free connection ideal for travelers, remote workers, or anyone needing reliable mobile internet.

Airalo

This is the only ESIM company I use.
With eSIMs from Airalo, travelers can download and install a digital data pack for over 200 countries/regions and get connected anywhere in the world as soon as they land.

health and fitness

air doctor

I used these guys to find doctors in the past, it’s a easy tool to use and schedule times. Especially if you’re in a country where you don’t speak the language – can be a great way to find English speaking doctors.

all trails

All Trails is my go-to for finding trails for hiking. I particularly love their offline capabilities, where you can download the map and then see in live GPS where you are in the trail regardless without needing internet connection. It was the tool I used to hike and work my way through southern Lisbon.

wahoo

I use a number of Wahoo products, they’ve been huge in getting me into shape while cycling. Wahoo Fitness is a fitness technology company that designs and manufactures training devices for endurance athletes, including smart trainers, bike computers, heart rate monitors, and fitness apps. Their ecosystem enables athletes to track, analyze, and enhance performance indoors and outdoors through integrated hardware and software solutions.

Other Honorable mentions
